Not knowing is often the hardest part
- Bites when you wake up
- Sleepless nights
- Checking the mattress by torchlight
- After treatment: is it really over?
Knowing is the first step to sleeping again.
Getting to know them
What you should know about bed bugs.
Not a hygiene issue
They feed on blood, not dirt. A well-kept home can have them too.
They travel with us
Luggage, second-hand furniture, moving house, next-door flats.
They hide near the bed
Seams, bed base, skirting boards, sockets, sofas. About the size of an apple pip.
They settle in quietly
Mostly active at night, hidden by day. Almost invisible at first.
How to tell if you have bed bugs
- Bites in a line or in small clusters
- Small black spots on the mattress or sheets
- Itching night after night
- A recent trip or second-hand furniture
Not everyone reacts to bites, and other insects bite too. That is exactly the doubt our team clears up.
What detection gives you
A bed bug inspection before you act.
Treat only when needed
Treatment is never trivial, especially with children or pets at home.
Peace of mind
Many suspected cases turn out to be a different insect.
Targeted treatment
If bed bugs are there, you know exactly where to act.
Keep your furniture
Knowing where they are also means knowing where they are not.
Know it's over
No more bites isn't always enough. A visit after treatment lets you check.
A dated record
When tenants move in or out, or before the season starts.
Nose and eyes, together
A bed bug sniffer dog never works alone.
The dog
Searches for a scent where signs are rare or hidden, and indicates the exact spot.
Her handler
Guides the search, examines each indication and explains what was found, or not.
An independent view
We do detection only. No treatment, no products to sell.
Nothing found? We tell you. Bed bugs detected? We explain what to do next and give you pest control companies to contact. The choice is yours.
Professionals: prevention is better than cure
A suitcase, a guest's comment, a photo shared online: where people come and go, worry often spreads faster than bed bugs.
Holiday lets and gîtes
A check between stays, including pilgrim hostels on the Way of St James. Relaxed guests, good reviews.
Hotels, B&Bs, campsites
Regular checks and a quick response after a guest's remark.
Transport and venues
Coaches, buses, cinemas: a discreet check outside opening hours.
Care and boarding
Boarding schools, care homes, hostels, hospitals: room by room, without moving residents.
Pest control companies
A survey before your treatment to target it, and an independent check afterwards. Your client stays yours.

Who's behind Les Fins Limiers
I'm Maéva. I live with my dogs, and the idea came from watching one of them sniff out pests.
I carried out housing visits and sanitary inspections for a local authority. Checking, documenting, explaining: that is what I bring to every inspection.
How an inspection works
Simple, with nothing taken apart.
- You contact usWe talk it through together
- The team comes to youRoom by room
- Each indication is examinedAnd recorded by the handler
- We explainOn site, what was found or not
- ReportDated, with photos
The duration depends on the size and number of rooms. The dog takes breaks: searching takes intense concentration.

Frequently asked questions
Do you treat bed bugs?
No, and that's deliberate. We only do detection, so our findings stay independent. If needed, we point you to specialist companies.
What if nothing is found?
That's good news, and now you know. You avoid an unnecessary treatment and get prevention tips.
I'm not being bitten since the treatment. Is it over?
Not necessarily. No bites doesn't guarantee no bed bugs. An inspection after treatment lets you check.
I'm a landlord in France. How does this help me?
Since the ELAN law of 2018, French landlords must provide housing free of pests and parasites. An inspection when tenants move in or out records the condition of the property on that date.
How does a bed bug sniffer dog work?
It is trained to recognise the scent of bed bugs. When it picks it up, it indicates the spot. The handler then examines the area and records it.
Can the dog make mistakes?
No method is infallible. That's why the dog never works alone: the handler examines each indication and records it in the report.
Is your report official?
There is no regulated bed bug inspection in France. Our report is neither a certificate nor a guarantee: it is a dated record of what was detected on the day.
What if the dog isn't feeling well?
The visit is rescheduled. A search by a tired or unwell dog would be worthless: reliability comes before the appointment.
Do I need to prepare the property?
No. Don't move anything and don't treat before the inspection: it can scatter the bed bugs and make the search harder.
How much does an inspection cost?
Prices will be published when we open. Leave your details to be the first to know.
When can I book you?
The team is in training. The first inspections are planned for 2027.
Do you speak English?
Yes, we can talk in English.
